Troy Baker Confirms He Isn’t The Voice Actor Behind Jason In GTA VI

Troy Baker has confirmed that he isn’t the voice actor behind the male lead character, Jason, in Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world action game, GTA VI.

Speaking on The Movie Dweeb YouTube channel, The Last of Us voice actor Troy Baker denied prior rumors that he is the voice behind the male lead, Jason, in GTA VI. He said that this whole matter has been a lesson in perception.

The video host asked Baker if he had heard of the rumors regarding his voice being identical to the voice in The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. In response, he said that the character spoke a total of one word, and that’s what made this whole situation funny. As such, it has been a great lesson in perception for him.  this was a great lesson for me.

According to Baker, people think and they just automatically assume things. He said that he wanted the actual voice actor behind Jason, whoever it is, to get credit for his work because he’s sure his work is going to be great. He mentioned that he knows many voice actors who worked for Rockstar Games, including Roger Clark. He said that these people pour themselves into those characters, and they deserve all the credit for their work. Not me. Therefore, he considers it a compliment if people associated the lead voice actor in GTA VI with him.

Troy Baker further delved into the element of perception, giving the example of Todd Howard. According to Baker, Howard didn’t want him to voice a lead character in a Bethesda Game Studios title because “Troy Baker’s in every game”. To Baker, this is a reminder of his incredibly remarkable career. Ultimately, Baker did end up getting the lead role in a game Howard is producing i.e. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
