Nihon Falcom has confirmed that the Trails series has now shipped 5 million copies sold. This is up more than 500K from the last reported figures.
Nihon Falcom has revised its forecast for the upcoming financial results for the fiscal year ending on September 30. The forecast for sales was increased from 2.15 billion yen to 2.45 billion yen, while the prediction for both operating and ordinary income was increased from one billion yen to 1.25 billion.
The last game to release in the series was The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki for PS4. The Legend of Heroes: Cold Steel 3 was also released for the Nintendo Switch and PC during this quarter so both of these likely contributed to the overall sales.
According to the updated sales figured shared by Nihon Falcom, the series has now shipped 5 million units. This result might seem like it is a blip in the sales of major JRPG franchises but if we consider the series as a niche, it is pretty impressive on its own.
The next game in line for the series is The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4. It will be released for PS4 first on October 27, 2020, with a launch on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2021.

I bought all 4 games this year. I did own some of the older on PC (Trails in the Sky) but never really got into them. Cold steel i did play on PSvita a while ago, but didn’t get into it. However i really like the YS franchise so i gave it another shot. I am still only in the 2nd game, but i will definitely play though all 4 of them
