After LCG Entertainment revived Telltale, they reacquired The Wolf Among Us among other titles, but initially didn’t announce a sequel. However, The Wolf Among Us 2 was revealed at The Game Awards 2019. It continues the storyline of the first game and serves as a prequel to the comic series. Development is in collaboration with AdHoc Studio, consisting of former Telltale staff that focuses on narrative and cinematic aspects, while Telltale handles gameplay and other designs.
Original voice actors for Bigby and Snow White, along with composer Jared Emerson-Johnson, are returning for the sequel. Development originally started in Unreal Engine 4, but the game eventually transitioned to Unreal Engine 5 in 2023. It will follow an episodic release format, developed entirely from scratch without using previous Telltale work. Unlike before, all episodes are being worked on simultaneously. Initially slated for 2023, the game’s release was postponed to 2024 due to the engine switch and also to avoid crunch. In September 2023, Telltale laid off some staff citing market conditions, but assured ongoing development of The Wolf Among Us 2. With Keighley’s recent confirmation that the game is currently in production, it looks like it will finally see the light of day this year in 2024.
The original The Wolf Among Us is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles. The game consists of five episodes that were released throughout 2013 and 2014.
