The Witcher 3 was supposed to get a PS5 and Xbox Series X version in Q4 20222 but there is still no release date for it. Now a UK retailer has provided one.
This rumor comes from someone who works at the UK retailer Game. Apparently, there has been an update on their database for the game which has listed a release date of December 9 for The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition. This is presumably the PS5 and Xbox Series X upgraded version of the game that has been confirmed for Q4 2022.
CD Projekt Red hasn’t revealed the new look at this enhanced version of The Witcher 3. They have confirmed that it will arrive with support for ray-tracing but that’s the extent of upgrades. They have done the same with Cyberpunk 2077 which received a native PS5 and Xbox Series X version post-launch, although its ray-tracing support was limited to shadows only instead of reflections as well.
According to CD Projekt Red, this will be a free upgrade to the existing owners of the game which means if you have already bought a copy on either of the available platforms, you won’t need to purchase it again, or pay a fee to upgrade to this new version when it arrives later this year.
The Witcher 3 was first released on May 18, 2015. It has been ported to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in addition to the PC version. There is a Complete Edition of the game available for all platforms that also comes with all of the post-launch expansions.
The Witcher 3 is a fantasy role-playing game set in a realm inspired by Slavic folklore. The story of the game features three different endings, which are influenced by the player’s decisions at important moments in the narrative. Players use weapons and magic to combat the game’s various dangers, interact with non-player characters, and complete tasks to earn experience points and wealth.
