The Last of Us Remake Is Reportedly Targeting Holiday 2022 Launch

The Last of Us has been rumored to get a brand new remake and according to a rumor, the game might be out as soon as Holiday 2022.

According to Jeff Grubb, editor at GamesBeat, the game is reportedly targeting a launch in Holiday 2022. He mentioned this information in a podcast with Kinda Funny Games. It was originally rumored that this remake will launch on both PS4 and PS5 but it stands to be seen if this still applies to the game or not.

The Last of Us was originally released for the PS3 back in 2013. It received a remaster for the PS4 in 2014 and was followed by a sequel in 2020. It is one of the most critically acclaimed games developed by Naughty Dog and it is also one of the best-selling IPs at Sony.

The rumor around a potential remake of The Last of Us was first reported by Bloomberg last year. It was originally started as a small project within Sony’s internal studios and then Naughty Dog took over the project. It has been described as a remake of the first game that is supposedly using the new engine upgrade and gameplay improvements featured in the sequel.

In addition to the news of the remake, there is also a rumor regarding a potential Director’s Cut for The Last of Us Part 2 along with a new Factions multiplayer mode that will be a standalone release. Both of these might also launch on the PS4 but nothing is set in stone.
