The Last of Us Part 1 Gameplay Upgrades, Resolution, and Frame Rate Detailed

Naughty Dog has shared the gameplay details for The Last of Us Part 1 after a set of leaks offered some insight into unedited gameplay and visuals.

The updated version of The Last of Us Part 1 includes the PS5’s DualSense controller haptics, trigger effects, and 3D audio. It can render native 4K at a target framerate of 30 FPS or dynamic 4K at a framerate of up to 60 FPS. This is not the extent of updates for this critically acclaimed game.

The entire game has been fully redesigned to take use of a new generation’s visual capability. The PS5’s powerful technology provides a broad range of visual benefits, from cinematics that seamlessly transitions into action to richer physics with a plethora of bumpables and chipables. Thanks to motion matching technology, character animations now flow more convincingly, smoothly, and authentically.

A “permadeath” option and a speedrun-focused mode are among the enhancements added by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 5 version of the game. Additionally, there are more accessibility options in the game—over 60—than the developer was able to offer in Part II. The game is now accessible to everyone thanks to a new Audio Description mode. Along with a variety of new skills for the pair, there are also new unlockable outfits for Joel and Ellie.
