Tango Gameworks has officially reopened in Tokyo under its new parent company, KRAFTON. Known for titles like The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and the award-winning Hi-Fi RUSH, the studio has resumed full-scale operations after closing in May 2024.
Following its acquisition by KRAFTON later in 2024, Tango Gameworks is now functioning as a dedicated creative studio. The company inaugurated its new Tokyo office on January 1, 2025, located in the Sumitomo Real Estate First Building in Minato-ku, Tokyo. This reopening marks a fresh start, with the studio aiming to merge its original development philosophy with KRAFTON’s global vision for competitive gaming experiences. Colin Mack, a veteran with over two decades of experience at Bethesda and THQ, has been appointed head of the studio, focusing on creating globally impactful projects.
Tango Gameworks is actively expanding its team and recruiting talent for various roles, including:
- Character Artists
- Level Designers
- Animators
- System Programmers
- Application Programmers
These positions are crucial for the development of new projects, including a potential sequel of Hi-Fi RUSH. The rhythm-action game, originally released in 2023, was a significant success, earning numerous accolades such as Best Audio Design at The Game Awards 2023, Best Audio at the 24th Game Developers Choice Awards, and Best Animation at the BAFTA Games Awards 2023.
The studio’s reopening is seen as a strategic move to enhance its development capabilities and align with KRAFTON’s mission to deliver innovative and competitive gaming experiences. With a new office and the recruitment of talented developers, Tango Gameworks is poised for a promising future.
