Starfield, set to release next month, experienced a significant leak that included 45 minutes of opening gameplay. The individual responsible faced consequences such as console banning and account suspension.
The leaker, known online as Memphian94, attempted to distribute copies of the Starfield gameplay and even went as far as showing his face and ID while selling the unreleased game. The videos were subsequently deleted, either by the leaker himself or through external intervention.
Investigations into the leaker’s activities revealed that he was allegedly working in a warehouse and running an online store where he listed unopened products, including video games, perfumes, and electronics, presumably stolen from his workplace. It became evident that the Starfield game was also stolen from the warehouse.
The consequences were swift, with the leaker’s console being banned and his account suspended. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the legal and ethical boundaries that must be respected, even in the excitement surrounding a new game release.
Starfield, an action RPG developed and published by Bethesda, is set to release on September 6, 2023. The game offers players the chance to explore a vast open world within the Milky Way galaxy, consisting of both fictional and non-fictional planetary systems. Players can discover over 1,000 planets, moons, and space stations, interact with various NPCs, and recruit crew members with unique abilities. New Atlantis, the game’s largest city, is the most massive fictional city ever created by Bethesda. The game’s landscapes are procedurally generated and then handcrafted to provide a rich and immersive experience.
Starfield has been promoted through various events, including trailers and live-action commercials. It features the “Starfield Suite” title theme composed by Inon Zur, previewed by the London Symphony Orchestra and released as a standalone track. The game’s release date was delayed from November 11, 2022, to September 6, 2023, to ensure quality and optimization. It will be available in standard, Premium, and Constellation Editions, with exclusive bonus materials for premium purchasers. Microsoft and Bethesda have distributed Starfield-themed accessories, and AMD was announced as the exclusive PC partner for the game.
