Konami and Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror title, Silent Hill 2, has entered the final phase of development, and the game’s release date is set to be announced soon.
In the consolidated annual report from Bloober Team for the year 2023, CEO Piotr Babieno stated that the studio is currently in the final stages of work on the Silent Hill 2 remake, and he expects that a release date for the game will be revealed sometime soon.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the Silent Hill 2 remake entering its final stages of development. Producer Motoi Okamoto also mentioned this during his recent interview with Famitsu. He added that there was little else he could share at the time. In his current role at Konami, he aims to revive the entire Silent Hill series. According to Okaomoto, Silent Hill 2 is the same as everyone imagines, and it is easy to play even in modern times, except that now it can be enjoyed with beautiful visuals that live up to nostalgic memories of the original. He urged fans to try out Silent Hill: The Short Message, and wait for further updates from the development team. The latter is available to download on PS5.
During another interview, Bloober Team CEO acknowledged criticism directed at the Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer shown during PlayStation’s recent State of Play. He believes the trailer does not capture the essence of the game. Criticism mainly focused on its unappealing visuals and perceived stiffness, as evident from YouTube statistics and comments, which garnered a mixed reception. Babieno jokingly remarked that he could have written some of the negative comments himself. However, he clarified that Bloober Team isn’t responsible for the marketing, with their partner Konami handling it entirely. He emphasized that the trailer doesn’t reflect the true spirit of neither the original game nor the remake.
