RS3 Yak Track event: Expedition to the Wilderness

RuneScape hosts a plethora of promotional events throughout the year, the Yak Track is one of them. During the Yak Trackv event, players are tasked to complete certain missions and progress through the prize tracks to obtain rewards. These events feature 50 tiers and two missions per tier, where only one has to be completed to progress to the next tier.

Participating in events is a lot of fun, especially knowing that awesome rewards await. At times, these events can be too difficult to complete, making players stress out and not enjoy the full extent of such events.

Yak Track technicalities

Yak Track events are hosted four times a year, for six weeks and are available for both free-to-play and Member players. Members’ tasks are generally considered harder, but they do have an equivalent in the F2P version if the membership subscription runs out during the event. In that case, the F2P missions take over, carrying over the progress as well. This is reciprocal for F2P players who transfer to the Members program.

At each tier’s completion players receive rewards, however, members track features additional rewards as well as member-exclusive rewards. Those who become members at any point during the event will receive all the rewards for completed tasks up to that point. All Yak Track events are held in Burthorpe, south of the Challenge Mistress Fara’s podium. There, players have to begin the conversation with an NPC who will offer insight into the event’s basics as well as lore. By completing this ‘tutorial’, players will pass the first task of the event, granting an event outfit.

Task skips

Every time Yak Events return to Gielinor they award players with two task skips which can be used to instantly complete a tier and jump on to the next one. These task skips can also be purchased with membership bonds; four skips for one bond or ten skips for two bonds. Apart from obtaining skips with bonds, players can also acquire them through the following means:

  • Redeeming a Yak Track task skip inventory item from the 2020 Summer Beach Party event
  • During the Gone Yak Tracking promotion, from the Treasure Hunter Trading 5,000 Spring Tokens from the 2021 Easter event
  • 10 skips were given to players affected by the 2021 server login issues
  • Unused skips from previous Yak Track events can be used in future ones.

Yak Track: Expedition to the Wilderness

The Expedition to the Wilderness is the twelfth event from the Yak Track series taking place from the 30th of August to the 23rd of October. Like any Yak Track event, the Expedition to the Wilderness will feature F2P and members tasks as well as the Skill and Kill option for each of the 50 tiers.

Tasks

Once players log in to RuneScape during the event, they will receive a Yak Track Task List in their backpacks. Through the list, players can access the event interface, but the interface can also be accessed by beginning a conversation with Mandrith in Burthorpe, through event noticeboards, the Activity Tracker once a task is pinned to it, through the Upgrades & Extras interface, and the event login and task completion messages.

Players can use a 50% progress boost attainable during the previous Yak Track event for reaching tier 40 in the members task list. Interestingly, players who equip an Elite skilling outfit, perks, auras, or any other experience modifier will not gain experience boosts for the Yak Track tasks.

There is a plethora of skilling tasks for players to complete in order to win prizes. Here’s the full list:

  • Agility
  • Archaeology
  • Construction
  • Cooking
  • Crafting
  • Divination
  • Dungeoneering
  • Fishing
  • Firemaking
  • Fletching
  • Herblore
  • Hunter
  • Mining
  • Prayer
  • Runecrafting
  • Slayer
  • Smithing
  • Summoning
  • Thieving
  • Woodcutting

Other tasks:

  • Clue Scrolls
  • Earn Marks of War
  • Skill and Kill
  • Yakstory

Rewards

Completing tasks and progressing through tiers will award players with various cosmetics and items. F2P players will not receive members rewards, but if they choose to transfer to member accounts during the event, they will receive all members rewards for completed tasks up to that point. Ironman accounts are only eligible to receive cosmetic rewards.
