A new batch of screenshots from Rockstar Games’ canceled stealth action game, Agent, have allegedly been leaked.
After the developmental build of GTA V and other files belonging to Rockstar Games had apparently been stolen, new information regarding some of the developer’s other titles began to emerge. One such title is the canceled stealth action game, Agent.
Screenshots allegedly showing a very early version of an underwater level from Agent were found among the stolen files. They were apparently used for GTA V documentation and are labeled as “Jimmy”, which is Agent’s codename. There is also apparently a model of the Liberty City map with the label “gta5_liberty”. This is allegedly from the cancelled single-player DLC that was previously discovered in GTA V’s code.
Alleged Agent Screenshots
The aforementioned alleged screenshots from Rockstar Games’ unreleased Agent can be seen below.
For the uninitiated, Agent was originally intended for release on the PlayStation 3. It was announced in June 2009, and the trademark for the title was renewed in 2013 and 2017, but was later abandoned by November 2018. The game’s setting was planned to be during the late 1970s Cold War era, with a focus on counter-intelligence, espionage, and political assassinations, as mentioned in a press release.
Michael Shorrock, the director of third-party relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America, had stated on the official PlayStation Blog that the exclusive rights for the next franchise from Rockstar Studios were granted to PlayStation due to their longstanding relationship and the success of Grand Theft Auto on the platform. Details about the new franchise were limited, but it was emphasized that it would not be similar to L.A. Noire. According to Shorrock, Rockstar aimed to create a game uniquely suited for the PS3, and Sony believed it would set a new standard for the industry. Ben Feder, the president of Take-Two Interactive at that time, described the game as “genre-defining” and a “whole new way of experiencing videogames that we haven’t really seen before.”
