Plans To Bring Starfield To PS5 May Have Been Revisited By Xbox Amidst Public Backlash

Microsoft may have revisited its plans to bring Bethesda Game Studios’ action role-playing game, Starfield, to PS5 amidst the recent public backlash to rumors.

Nate The Hate, who is known for his connections in the game industry, took to Twitter/X to share that he is confident about Microsoft bringing select games to rival platforms, though he added that Xbox will keep high profile first party titles exclusive to its platform, and the decision to bring Starfield to PS5 may have been revisited amidst the public outcry against rumors.

Nate clarified that though he had indeed heard about Starfield coming to PS5. However, he stated that one should treat it as rumor. He said that he didn’t want to report on it until a release window was finalized, meaning plans remain open to change. He added that discussions were indeed held with regards to making Starfield a multiplatform title, which led to the reports/rumors. Given the very early reporting and negative public response, he believes that such conversations may have been revisited. Though, he mentioned that he did not have a lead to suggest one way or the other.

According to Nate, people have been making “wild assumptions” regarding Xbox‘s shift in strategy, believing that every first party game will be going multiplatform, which he believes will not be the case. He added that Microsoft isn’t going to be exiting the hardware industry, as some have speculated. As per him, this is only a slight shift in the company’s strategy.

Nate reiterated the same on gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era. He believes that people need to stop pushing the narrative that Xbox will not have exclusives. He pointed out that he played a role in the emergence of the Starfield rumor, which may have been “bad” information or good information gone “bad”.
