Sega and Atlus’ next entry in the Persona role-playing game series, Persona 6, will be released on Xbox, based on the latest rumor.
Speaking during the latest episode of DirectXbox on the Spawncast YouTube channel, well-known insider Nate the Hate stated that he’s heard Persona 6 will be coming to Xbox, though he isn’t entirely sure whether it will be day and date with the PlayStation version. That said, he added that considering how recent entries have been day and date with multiplatform releases, it would be a safe assumption to make that it will arrive simultaneously with the PlayStation release.
According to Nate, it would be a really big deal if Microsoft is able to secure Persona 6 as a day one release on Xbox Game Pass alongside its launch. However, he suggested that doing so would take a lot more effort on Microsoft’s part because it would be the next mainline entry in the Persona series, and Sony Interactive Entertainment would likely be in a bidding war for the game’s marketing rights. He pointed out that, thus far, Microsoft has primarily been able to secure Persona remakes or remasters for Xbox Game Pass, which may not have had Sony Interactive Entertainment’s attention as much as the next mainline entry in the series may.
If Persona 6 does indeed end up being released day and date on Xbox alongside PlayStation, it would be a big payoff for Microsoft. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has been making efforts to make Xbox more relevant in Japan by establishing partnerships with Japanese publishers. The company also owns the Japan-based Tango Gameworks, which it acquired as part of Bethesda Game Studios.
Previously, Reset Era member Head on the Block, formerly known on the forum as Sega and Square Enix leaker Im a Hero Too, had shared that Person 6 will feature a semi-open world and “fluid” social links.
