Nintendo’s upcoming remake of its 2004 role-playing game, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, is currently the best selling game on Amazon, and the Mario franchise continues to dominate at the retailer.
Excluding store gift cards, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the Nintendo Switch is currently the best selling product in the ‘Video Game’ category on Amazon. Its only competition are other first party titles based on the Mario franchise.
Following the Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #2. The game was released alongside the Nintendo Switch back in 2017, and it continues to be a top seller. It would be an understatement to say that the kart racer is a major success for the console maker. At #3 is the platformer, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, followed by the action adventure game, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, at #4. Meanwhile, the #5 spot goes to the upcoming action adventure game, Princess Peach: Showtime! It’s safe to say that the Mario franchise is currently dominating the console market.
Nintendo’s official listing for the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake on its website indicates that the 2004 original has undergone significant updates, including revamped graphics and various improvements to enhance the gameplay experience. While the console maker hasn’t revealed specific details about the new features, it is suggested by the wording on the store listing that there will be numerous Quality of Life changes to streamline gameplay and improve accessibility.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is the second installment in the Paper Mario series. It maintains various RPG elements from its predecessor, including turn-based battles, puzzles, and platforming challenges. Players take on a quest to retrieve the seven Crystal Stars and rescue Princess Peach from the villainous X-Nauts. The game retains the same battle system as the one found in the original Paper Mario.
