Respawn Entertainment developed the Titanfall series. Initially released on Xbox and Microsoft Windows, it is now available on other platforms. Players control “Pilots” and their mech-style Titans in six-on-six matches set in the war-torn outer space colonies of the Frontier. The game is renowned for its fast-paced action, incorporating wall-running abilities, and computer-controlled soldiers to keep players engaged.
The first game in the series, Titanfall, was released on March 11, 2014, for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It was primarily multiplayer-focused and did not have a traditional single-player campaign. Titanfall 2, the second game in the series, was launched on October 28, 2016. It included a full-fledged single-player campaign and was available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows.
Titanfall: Assault was a top-down real-time strategy game for mobile platforms that was later shut down. Although it is not a direct spin-off, Apex Legends is a battle royale game that shares many assets and gameplay features with Titanfall. Titanfall: Frontline and Titanfall Online were collectible card and online game versions that were announced but later canceled.
If the rumors are true, a new Titanfall game could improve upon the mechanics and storytelling of its predecessors, as well as breathe new life into the franchise amidst a crowded FPS market and the rise of battle royale games.
