The Winter Convergence festival is finally here, so ready your snow boots because it’s time to meet the Yeti.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and what better way for New World to get into the holiday vibes than by adding merry content that’ll tide players over the Christmas period? Introducing the Winter Convergence, featuring jolly activities, festive villages, and a Yeti. Throughout December, the four towns in Monarch’s Bluffs, Brightwood, Everfall, and Weaver’s Fen will be spruced up by a new NPC called the Winter Wanderer. As the land is blanketed by the snow and the skies are dimly lit by the northern lights, you will have to seek out the Winter Wanderer if you want to complete an array of holiday quests. Of course, there’s a bunch of New World items and New World gold in it for you as a reward for doing the tasks.
Is the Yeti Good or Evil? The Choice is Yours to Make
Marked by the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights in the Sky), the Winter Convergence festival is a time of dichotomy and duality in Aeternum as the Winter Wanderer, aka the Yeti comes to the land. Upon logging in, you’ll notice that the settlements are decorated for the holidays and gifts are being exchanged. On the outside though, there’s a war raging between positive and negative forces of the Winter Wanderer. Will the Yeti be a lover of peace or disharmony? The choice is for you to decide as you take on the cause of the Winter Wanderer during the Winter Convergence festival to collect Winter Tokens from repeatable missions across the Aeternum. You can redeem these tokens in the Holiday Shop to receive rare New World items and cosmetics. The important factor about the event is that whenever you turn in the Winter Tokens, the Yeti’s positive aspect grows.
The Four Winter Villages
There are Winter Villages set up in Monarch’s Bluffs, Brightwood, Everfall, and Weaver’s Fen where you’ll have to go if you want to begin the event. Once you’re there, you can go to the Yeti to begin the questline. All of the Winter Village locations are easy to spot thanks to the filters in the world map. Each of the villages has shops just outside their vicinity where you can exchange gifts for tokens.
New POIs
The Winter Convergence event also added new POIs called the Ice Caves. The reason why these Ice Caves have been appearing is because of the Winter Warrior, whose desire is to have the Winter season forever. These icy and snowy caves are where the yeti use their powers to make snowfall. If the onslaught of the Winter Warrior doesn’t stop, the rest of Aeternum will begin to look like the Ice Caves. According to Amazon, the caves will remain behind even after the Winter Convergence festival ends as scars of the land as there are sources of wintry magic that refuse to melt, even you defeat the Winter Warrior.
There are a total of twelve Ice Caves to explore until the event ends:
- North Edengrove
- South Edengrove
- North Shattered Mountain
- Northern Brightwood
- Northwest Great Cleave
- Southeast Great Cleave
- Southern Monarch’s Buff
- Southern Everfall
- Southern Ebonscale Reach
- Western Mournindale
- Western Edge of First Light (near the border of Cutlass Keys)
- Eastern Windsward
Activities to Do in the Winter Convergence Festival
It’s not an event without limited-time activities! Luckily for you, there are 4 activities to engage in while the Winter Convergence festival is ongoing. All of the events that are listed will reward you with both Event Reputation and Winter Tokens.
- Recovering Lost Presents
Help recover all of the lost presents scattered in Aeternum! Once you find them, you can exchange the presents for Winter Tokens at the Holiday Shops in the Winter Villages. There will also be floating presents which you’ll have to take down with a ranged weapon if you want to get them. Once you shoot one down, you will be rewarded with the presents. As such, make sure that you have a ranged weapon at all times if you’re gunning to collect as many presents as possible.
- New Questlines
There are 7 new questlines for the Winter Convergence that range from having a level requirement of 15 to 60, making it perfect for everyone to have the chance to join in. By completing these quests, you’ll earn a lot of Event Reputation. The first four quests have a level requirement of 15, while the two quests after that will need players to be at least level 25. Finally, for the last quests, players have to be level 60 to accomplish it.
- Enjoying the Gleamlite
Gleamlite showers are random events that will occur during nighttime in Aeternum. During this time, a rift will open in the sky, causing Gleamlite to fall and scatter on the ground. You can choose to mine the Gleamlite and exchange them for Winter Tokens.
- The Convergence Spirit: Resurrecting the Town Once More
As the name suggests, the Convergence Spirit is a town project that allows you to complete town project quests that will upgrade each of the settlement’s Tree of Light, allowing for more improved daily rewards.
