Voice actors who worked on Bandai Namco Entertainment and CyberConnect2’s fighting game, Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, have raised a question mark over the game’s poor English dub.
Twitter/X users ShonenGameZ and MoeruStorm criticized the poor English dub in Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, which led to voice actors stepping in to defend themselves. Maile Flanagan, one of the voice actors who worked on the game, responded by clarifying that they did not say that line that way. They also guaranteed that no voice director of the Naruto anime or games would have them perform a dub in the manner that is depicted in Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections.
Michael Schwalbe, another voice actor who worked on Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, responded by pointing out that the voice overs crew was not told the context behind the lines they were reading. He mentioned that the production crew gave voice actors a list of lines and they go down the page, doing 2 takes each. This includes lines like “final attack”, “small pain”, and “attacking”, he added. However, he clarified that he did not recall voicing the line for the attack seen in MoeruStorm’s video from Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections in the manner that it was depicted in-game. “There ain’t no way id do myself like that”, he said.
Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is the seventh installment in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Namco-Bandai Entertainment. The game was released on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Steam (PC). Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections not only brings back the full list of Combination Ultimate Jutsu techniques present in Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, but it also introduces a selection of new Combination Ultimate Jutsu techniques.
