Previously, it was reported that Multiversus fans had expressed frustration with the announcement that there will be no refunds for players who spent money on the game throughout the open beta, as the game went dark in June, 2023. Despite the disappointment, the developers at Player First Games have confirmed that all progress and previously earned or purchased content will carry over when the game returns in early 2024.

The news was confirmed on the official Multiversus website, under the FAQ page, where the question “Will refunds be available for previously purchased content?” was met with the response, “Additionally, refunds are not available as a result of the Open Beta closure.”

Multiversus is a free-to-play crossover fighting game developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Games for multiple platforms. The game features characters from popular Warner Bros. Entertainment franchises and is set for a full launch in early 2024. Tony Huynh, co-founder and game director at Player First Games, has described the open beta as an important learning opportunity for the development team, providing a stepping stone to the next phase of MultiVersus.

The game offers 1-vs-1 and free-for-all modes, but it primarily encourages team-based combat with two characters. The majority of in-game attacks are designed to synergize with this team dynamic, with other players passively amplifying the effects of certain moves. It introduces a perk system enabling players to customize their characters with passive abilities that impact both their own and their teammates’ performance.
