Nintendo has released its latest fiscal results providing an update on the lifetime sales of the Nintendo Switch and software like Metroid Dread.
The sales update on the software applies to the year ending December 31, 2021. This applies to games like Metroid Dread, Mario Party Superstars, and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Almost all of them have done well for Nintendo leading to a strong quarter and revenue driven by the sales of the Nintendo Switch hardware.
Metroid Dread is now one of the best-selling games of all time in the franchise. It achieved this feat in just three months of sales. The game has now sold through 2.74 million units, which is the same figure as the lifetime sales of Metroid Prime.
Other recent releases include Pokêmon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl at 14 million and Mario Party Superstars at 5.4 million
Nintendo Switch has reached a lifetime sales of 103.54 million. This puts it above the Nintendo Wii making it one of the best-selling consoles of all time for Nintendo. Nintendo Wii had lifetime sales of 101.63 million which are now surpassed by the Nintendo Switch.
