Bioware has revealed a brand new teaser trailer for its upcoming Mass Effect title, dubbed Mass Effect 5, along with details that hint at the game’s story.
On the occasion of N7 Day 2023, developer Bioware shared a new teaser trailer for Mass Effect 5 along with a blog post that hints at where the game’s story is headed. The teaser trailer can be seen below.
The teaser trailer shows a masked figure walking across a hallway, as they turn around briefly before walking away. It’s difficult to figure anything out from this teaser. It’s possible that the character behind the mask is the protagonist in Mass Effect 5, or possibly even the antagonist.
Meanwhile, the Bioware’s new blog post does share a few details that hint at where the game’s story may be headed. The post mentions that series fans have asked questions surrounding the fate of their favorite characters, presumably referring to the ending of Mass Effect 3. The mention of “S—” heavily implies that Commander Shepard will be making their return in the latest entry.
“What happened to everyone you know and love in the games? Who really died? Who had kids with whom? What does a baby volus sound like? What about all the galaxies? The endings! What the heck is going on with our asari scientist-turned-Shadowbroker? What about S— nevermind…you get the idea. And of course, to those questions, there are answers, but you’ll have to wait to hear them.”
Furthermore, Bioware’s official Twitter account shared artwork depicting the masked figure from the teaser trailer at the forefront. Closer inspection shows that the artwork also features a scene from a bar seemingly involving both the Geth and Angara.
A release date and list of platforms for Mass Effect 5 have yet to be revealed, though it expected to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
