Hazelight Studios, the developer behind It Takes Two, is reportedly planning to announce its next game later this year in 2024.

The It Takes Two developer took to Twitter/X to share that it will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in November, 2024. It highlighted director Josef Fares accepting a Bafta for Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons back in March 2014, and the game’s success leading up to the creation of the studio.

The Twitter/X post mentioned that Hazelight Studios has something new in the works that it will shed more light on later later this year.  As for what this upcoming project may be is anyone’s guess, though it’s safe to say that it will likely be a co-op focused experience, much like the studio’s previous games. Hazelight has carved a niche for itself, and it is unlikely to deviate from the formula that has found it success in the industry.

For the uninitiated, It Takes Two, is a co-op action adventure platformer developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The game was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 25, 2021, with the  Nintendo Switch version arriving on November 4, 2022. Similar to Hazelight’s previous title, A Way Out, It Takes Two doesn’t offer a single-player mode and requires two players for local or online split-screen cooperative multiplayer.

The game combines action adventure and platformer elements, tailored specifically for split-screen cooperative play. Each level introduces a variety of gameplay mechanics drawn from different video game genres, all integrated into the storyline and theme. For example, one of the two playable characters, Cody, gains time-rewinding abilities, while the other, May, can create duplicates of herself. Players must collaborate and make use of these unique abilities to advance through the game. Additionally, It Takes Two includes numerous mini-games to further diversify the experience.
