Insomniac Games May Have Worked On Resistance 4 & Sunset Overdrive 2 At One Point

Insomniac Games may have been working on Resistance 4 and Sunset Overdrive 2 at one point, based on the latest information.

Evidence discovered in the files stolen from Insomniac Games in the recent ransomware attack suggests that the Sony Interactive Entertainment owned studio may have been working on Resistance 4 and Sunset Overdrive 2 at one point.

Among the leaked files stolen from Insomniac Games is the mention of both Resistance 4 and Sunset Overdrive 2. Both games were in development at some point, though both are marked as canceled. It’s unknown how far both games were in development before the plug was pulled on them. This information will undoubtedly come as a huge disappointment to fans of both the Resistance series as well as Sunset Overdrive.

Perhaps Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games will some day test the waters with a remaster of the original Resistance trilogy for modern platforms. Until then, however, Resistance fans will have to make do with Resistance 3, which is available via streaming on PS Plus Premium.

Previously, it was reported that a fully playable PC developmental build of Marvel’s Wolverine has been leaked, and is making the rounds on the internet. It had been obtained by hackers as part of a larger hack, when Insomniac Games had been hit by an attack from ransomware operator Rhysida. The ransomware gang had initially shared limited data online that appeared to back its claim. The gang’s proof-of-hack included a screenshots and character art related to other Marvel characters that may be featured in Marvel’s Wolverine.

Additionally, passport scans of Insomniac employees, including a recent Disney hire who was laid off by the developer two months ago, were also shared. The Rhysida gang had given Insomniac a seven-day ultimatum before releasing the complete data set. Concurrently, they conducted an auction for the data, starting at 50 bitcoins, equivalent to just over US$2 million.
