Id Software Is Rumored To Be Working On An “Established IP”, Reveal This Year

Id Software is currently working on a game based on an “established IP”, and there’s a “strong” chance that it will be revealed this year.

Well-known insider NateDrake (aka Nate the Hate) took to gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era to share that Id Software is currently working on a game based on an “established IP”. He added that there’s a “strong” chance it will be revealed this year in 2024.

NateDrake also offered an update regarding other Xbox first party titles. He mentioned that, last he had heard, Playground Games’ upcoming action role-playing game, Fable, is targeting a 2025 release. Additionally, he said that the Banjo & Kazooie title is being reworked from its original vision and scope, and is therefore in the early stages of development. He added that the rework that the game has undergone is for the better.

According to NateDrake’s sources, Avalanche Studios’ Contraband could be released this year in 2024, though it is not something he is confident in. Additionally, he said that the next Halo and Gears titles have a good chance at being announced this summer or afterwards this year. He stated that he would be surprised if 2024 goes by without a Gears 6 announcement.

The Gears 6 reveal in 2024 certainly sounds accurate. Back in December, 2023, the official Gear of War Twitter/X account had shared a greeting card, wishing fans for the holidays. It was later re-tweeted by The Coalition Level Designer Benjamin Huyghe, with the message “see you in 2024”.

Previously, it was mentioned by Jeff Grub the that developer behind the Gears of War series is working on the next installment in the series. However, he added that the studio also has more in store for fans. “Gears studio The Coalition is busy, they are working on Halo… they are helping with Halo Infinite. That is one of the big projects that Coalition is contributing to in a major way, Coalition is also of course making the next Gears game… But the Coalition is also working on a third thing and it likely is a new IP, ” said Jeff Grub during his podcast.
