Horizon Forbidden West is a strong contender for game of the year in 2022 and it has already won one such award for Guerrilla Games.
This award comes from Develop: Brighton who presented it to Horizon Forbidden West. Develop: Brighton is Europe’s biggest conference for game developers and it took place from July 12 to 14. Guerrilla Games and PlayStation UK were awarded the Game of the Year category during this event.
Horizon Forbidden West competed with 7 other games including Forza Horizon 5 and Deathloop.
- DEATHLOOP
- Forza Horizon 5
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Life is Strange: True Colors
- OlliOlli World
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Sifu
- Unpacking
This might be a significant win for Guerrilla Games although Elden Ring was not one of the competitors in this category. It is a strong contender for the Game of the Year awards this year along with Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok.
Other games from PlayStation Studios that were considered for this award include Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart from Insomniac Games, which launched last Summer.
The Horizon sequel arrived for both PS4 and PS5 in February this year. It follows on the story in the first game giving Aloy more weapons and locations to explore while saving the world from another threat. It was developed by Guerrilla Games and runs on the Decima Game Engine, which is also used for Death Stranding.
