Guerrilla Games hasn’t announced a new Horizon game, but they have a multiplayer project related to the franchise, based on a series of job postings.
There are rumors that suggest the studio is working on a live-service Horizon game that might release in 2025. These rumors originate from a job listing for a Senior Software Engineer that requires experience in “building and operating multi-service, 1M+ user globally distributed systems across multiple public cloud providers.”
According to earlier rumors, this game could potentially arrive on PC and PS5 as a multiplatform launch, similar to Helldivers 2 and Concord. Guerrilla Games seems to be planning for a grand launch.
The Horizon series has been incredibly successful for Guerrilla Games. They have released two mainline games in the series and two major post-launch expansions for each game. Considering the success the franchise has received and the gameplay that lends itself to a multiplayer-focused spin-off, it was not surprising to learn that Guerrilla Games might be working on a multiplayer spin-off.
The Horizon series is currently available for PS4 and PS5. However, with this new multiplayer game, the developers might shift their focus to PS5 and PC. This is reportedly their next project in the franchise, ahead of any potential Horizon 3, which is still a long way off. Jason Schrier suggested that Horizon fans will have to wait for a while before the third entry is released.
In the meantime, fans might have to make do with this multiplayer spin-off that could launch as soon as 2025.
