GTA VI Is Entering The Final Stages Of Development

Rockstar Games is entering the final stages of development for its upcoming open world action adventure game, GTA VI.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has reported that Rockstar Games has asked employees to work in-office five days a week starting from April, 2024, as the developer will enter the final stages of development on GTA VI.

According to Schreier, in an email sent out on Wednesday, Rockstar Games’ Head of Publishing Jenn Kolbe informed the GTA VI development team of this decision.  She mentioned that the decision was made for productivity and security reasons, likely in an effort to avoid the previous security breaches the company has faced, among which was a major leak of early gameplay footage as well as a trailer from GTA VI.

According to Kolbe, making these changes puts Rockstar Games in the best position to deliver the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and polish the studio knows it requires, along with a publishing roadmap that matches the scale and ambition of the game.

During its Q3 2024 Earnings Conference Call, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc remained firm about its $8 billion revenue forecast for Fiscal year 2025. This forecast spans from April 2024 to March 2025. The release of GTA VI is expected to occur between January, 2025 and March, 2025, and Kolbe’s email lends further credibility to this. There is a period of around one year between April, 2024 and March, 2025, which would indicate that this is indeed the final stretch of development.

Previously, Twitter/X user , who is followed by the official Rockstar Games Twitter/X account, had claimed to know the length of the main story in GTA VI. According to them, the main story will be around 30 to 40 hours long.
