In a recent update shared on their support page, GOG has announced a significant change regarding Cloud Saves management. Starting September 2024, any Cloud Save files exceeding the default allocation limit of 200MB per game will be deleted. This measure is part of GOG’s efforts to streamline their cloud storage services and ensure efficient use of space.
GOG has urged users to review their Cloud Save files to avoid losing important game data. It’s important to note that this change affects only the saves stored in the cloud via GOG GALAXY; any saves stored locally on users’ computers will remain untouched.
After the deadline of August 31st, 2024, GOG will commence the deletion process in a phased manner. Initially, they will target and remove unnecessary files that are not directly related to games but have been mistakenly saved in the Cloud Save folder. Following this, the deletion will extend to actual game save files, starting with the oldest ones and continuing until the remaining files fit within the 200MB limit.
How to Avoid Losing Save Files On GOG
