God of War Ragnarok is a massive game not just because it is the final part of a big story arc, but also because there is a lot of content packed into it.
As review codes for the game have been given out, several outlets including IGN are playing the game. The review embargo will be lifted on November 3rd, but until then, some minor impressions are allowed.
During a recent IGN Podcast (via), we learn that God of War Ragnarok can take a lot more time to beat it than its predecessor. This was revealed by an IGN editor who is currently playing through the game. They talked about how much time they have spent in God of War Ragnarok trying to get 100% completion, and it is well over 70 hours.
The average playtime for God of War Ragnarok according to How Long To Beat is 20 hours for the main story, while those who are aiming to become completionists can clock as much as 50 hours. Personally speaking, my playtime hovered around the 40 to 50 hours mark.
In this regard, the playtime for God of War Ragnarok makes it seem like we are looking at a meaty game with a lot of content. While this is just a small sample size and the playtime might vary depending on how others approach the game, it is still a good indication that the game is not going to be a short journey.
God of War Ragnarok will be out on November 9, 2022, for the PS4 and PS5.
