Fortnite keeps breaking records with its crazy popular live events! Last night, they had the Fortnite Remix Finale, and a whopping 14.3 million players jumped into the game to watch it. This totally crushed their old record from Travis Scott’s concert back in 2020, which had 12.3 million players. And that’s not even counting the millions who watched on Twitch and YouTube!
This event outdid some other big ones too. More people watched this than the 9.8 million at the Times Square Remix launch, the 5.6 million for October’s Doctor Doom boss battle, and the 10 million at last year’s The Big Bang finale. Only the 2020 Marvel Galactus event had more, with 15.3 million players.
The Remix Finale was a wild trip through Fortnite’s past and future. It kicked off at Snoop Dogg’s revamped Agency HQ with nods to events like The Device from Chapter 2. Snoop, in skyscraper-sized cel-shaded form, freestyled as players checked out the interstellar visuals. Then Eminem showed up, fighting a robot version of himself with Fortnite’s Mecha Team Leader. Anime vibes and action sequences everywhere!
Ice Spice took it up a notch, performing on rooftops and then turning into a giant kaiju-like figure. And there was a super touching tribute to Juice WRLD, the first time Fortnite honored a late artist. His hologram performed with those iconic rift butterflies in the background, and they premiered his music video for “Empty Out Your Pockets” in the game.
The event wrapped with a teaser for Fortnite’s future. Longtime hero Jones and new character Hope jumped into a rift with the Battle Bus and a piece of the Zero Point, landing in a new Japan-inspired island for the next chapter, which starts today.
With this record-breaking event blending nostalgia and new stuff, Epic Games shows they’re the masters of live gaming events, keeping millions hooked.
