A review for Monster Hunter Wilds has surfaced earlier than expected, with PCMag accidentally posting its verdict ahead of the game’s official release. The review awarded the highly anticipated action RPG a perfect 10/10, praising its stunning visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and engaging narrative.
The review highlighted that Monster Hunter Wilds delivers a polished experience, noting that the full release, including the day-one patch, ran flawlessly on a launch PlayStation 5. Concerns about performance during the open beta seem to have been resolved, as the final build reportedly offers three visual modes—Fidelity, Balanced, and Performance. Players can also set frame rate caps at 30, 60, or uncapped, with an additional 40fps option for compatible displays. The reviewer mentioned that PS5 Pro players will especially appreciate the available settings.
According to the review, the game maintained stable performance across all settings. Fidelity mode delivered a locked 30fps, while Performance mode ensured a smooth 60fps. The flexibility to mix settings, such as running Fidelity mode with an uncapped frame rate, was also praised as a great feature for players.
Developed and published by Capcom, Monster Hunter Wilds is the successor to Monster Hunter: World (2018). The game is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows.
