Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida has said that the game’s trailer was delayed due to certain circumstances but it should be out soon.
He talked about the game’s development in a recent stream that focused on a Final Fantasy XIV collaboration with NieR Re[in]carnation.
During the stream, Yoshida was asked to comment on the situation regarding the development of Final Fantasy XVI, and its current status.
Yoshida talked about how the development of the game is pretty much done. The development team has spent a lot of time polishing and debugging it. They also had a trailer ready to go but it was supposedly delayed to certain factors. Yoshida did promise that the trailer will be available soon but he didn’t give a timeline for it.
Final Fantasy XVI was first announced during the PlayStation 5 Games Showcase event back in September 2020. It was revealed as a timed console exclusive for the PS5 although there is no PC version launching along with the PS5.
The game is being developed by Square Enix’s Creative Business Unit III. It is being produced by Naoki Yoshida whose credit includes Final Fantasy XIV and its multiple expansions. It will be directed by Hiroshi Takai, the director of The Last Remnant.
