If a Metal Gear Solid 4 port for modern platforms is indeed in development, it’s likely to be a part of a possible Volume 2 of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.

Earlier, a datamine of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 files revealed string IDs for Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid V, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The presence of these titles in the code hints at potential integration into Master Collection Vol. 2 in the future.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 packs the earlier Metal Gear titles, offering fans the chance to revisit the series’ stealth-action gameplay and narrative. The collection is accessible on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows. In terms of updates, the Master Collection now enables the pausing of cutscenes, a Quality of Life feature for Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3. However, on current-gen consoles, accessing the pause menu during cutscenes can take over 10 seconds.

Furthermore, Master Collection Vol. 1 permits players to generate save data from other PS1 games for use in Metal Gear Solid 1. This restores a feature from the original game where Psycho Mantis would interact with save data on the PS1 memory card. Konami not only reinstated this feature but enhanced it by allowing players to create dummy save data for games that triggered unique dialogues from Psycho Mantis in the original Metal Gear Solid.
