Battlefield 2042 players who had pre-ordered the game are complaining about the pre-order not downloading if they have bought a standalone PS5 version.
This is happening to those who had pre-ordered the standalone PS5 version, while it is also being reported on the Xbox consoles. As it stands, one user who managed to get in touch with Sony support got a reply back that this issue has to do with the license for the game that is usually published by EA Dice, so it could be merely a launch day rush that has led to the game not downloading on the PS5.
I spoke with PS Store customer support for about an hour today about my pre-order that cannot be downloaded. (There are numerous threads about people who pre-ordered with playstation not being able to download the Standard Edition of the game. The download button shows up as “00:00:00”.)
Sony says that the license for the game has been applied to my account, and that the issue is entirely on EA’s side. They can’t say what the issue is, other than their responsibility as a “store front” is to apply the license behind the scenes. If that license doesn’t work (and therefore the game does not actually appear in my account), that’s a problem between me and EA. Nothing to do with them.
There is no fixed time or date when this issue will be resolved, but in the past, these are usually fixed with a day or two so if you are facing this problem of the Battlefield 2042 download not working, then just wait a while.
