A release date for the Xbox version of Larian Studios’ latest role-playing game, Baldur’s Gate 3, will be announced when the studio is confident about it, according to the studio.
Director of publishing at Larian Studios, Cromwelp, took to Twitter to debunk ongoing rumors regarding a release date confirmation for the Xbox Series X|S version of Baldur’s Gate 3. He clarified that fans will know the release date once the development team is confident in the state of the Xbox version. He added that the current plan is still to release the Xbox port before the end of the year 2023.
According to Larian Studios’ director of publishing, the key takeaway here should be that the studio wants to put out a really good version that Xbox fans deserve. He added that this meant the development team will continue to work on said version of Baldur’s Gate 3 until it is happy to release it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the third main entry in the Baldur’s Gate series, which is based on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop RPG system. An early access version was released for macOS, Windows, and Stadia on October 6, 2020. The full Windows version was launched on August 3, 2023, while the PlayStation 5 version followed on September 6, 2023, and the macOS version on September 22, 2023.
The game features both single-player and cooperative multiplayer gameplay. Players can create and control one or more characters, forming a party that can include pre-generated characters to explore the game’s storyline. Additionally, players have the option to team up online with others using one of their characters to create a party.
Baldur’s Gate 3 includes a flexible quest system, allowing multiple approaches to complete most quests. Players have the option to eliminate nearly any non-player character, even if they are significant to the story, without hindering their progress in the game. The game is structured into three acts, each set in a different world region.
