Before we start, let me tell you that we could not make this work during an online game, so it will only be active in local games. You will have to hold down left on the directional pad on your controller to scan an amiibo. When you do this, you will see an amiibo icon on the screen showing that you can scan an amiibo.
How To Use Amiibo In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Place your amiibo on the sensor. On joy-con, put it over the right thumbstick. For the pro controller, over the Nintendo Switch logo.
You will get 1-up mushroom or a random power-up for using almost every amiibo. There are three amiibo that have special effects when scanned.
Cat Mario will put you in an invincible catsuit for a short duration.
You can only use the Bowser Jr to its full potential in the Browser’s Fury mode. If you will scan the amiibo while playing as Bowser Jr, he will do a shockwave attack. There is a cooldown in it, so you cannot spam the scanning. If you will use it in a normal mode, you will only get a random power-up or a 1-up mushroom.
Finally, if you will scan any Bowser amiibo in the Bowser’s Fury mode it will summon Fury Bowser. You can fight him if you have the Giga Bell, but otherwise, you will have to lead him around the map so that he can destroy things. In the normal 3D World mode, you will also get a power-up or 1-up from it.
Cat Peach amiibo was also designed to release alongside this game’s release explicitly but unfortunately, it has no unique functionality in the game.
