In Monster Hunter Stories, to get Vital Essence and Ancient potions, you will have to go to Le Lucion. When you reach this town you will have several side tasks to complete, but there are two side quests that will be on the left side of the map near where the layered armor vendor is located. Go and speak with the Sloppy Artisan, and he will give you a quest called “Secret Dealings”, complete this quest and you will get the Ancient Potion. To get the Vital Essence, you will have to go and speak with the cat called the persevering feline on the top deck and then he will give you a quest called “Test of Perseverance.” To complete the “Test of Perseverance” quest, you will have to go and kill five hermitor, it is quite easy and you can kill them in no time. These items are rare, so it means that they can’t be found easily, however, if you go around gathering berry piles on the ground (red or blue) there’s a chance that girthy garlic pops up. If you go to the Pyarer Pots and you pray for the gathering prayer, the chance of rare items will be increased. If you want to farm these potions you will have to get these items and craft them.
Ancient potions are better than Vital Essence, as they not only refill your heart instead they also replenish your health and give you a temporary heal over time. You will have to hand in some immunizer and some kelby horn to complete this quest. After completing this quest you will get the crafting recipe of Ancient potions as a reward. You will need both immunizer and kelby horn to craft Ancient Potions.
You can easily get the Kelby horns by going around the beach on Hakola Island and you don’t even need to fight them, you just have to run at them and scare them off and there’s a chance that they will drop Kelby horns. There’s one other quest in the final towns which rewards you with Vital Essence. Go to the last area in the Neute Village and speak with the Vigilant attendant and he will give a quest called “The Knight Crider Webs.” This quest is also not repeatable, as if you complete this quest for the second, the rewards will not be the same so it means that it’s a one-time thing. You will get 3 Vital Essence as a reward for completing this quest.
To complete this quest, leave the village hub, select evening, and then go and drop down to the middle Catavan Stand. This is very near a pathway that leads past a lot of aerodrome to the volcanic area. There is a web in that corrido and it has a chance to spawn the Knight Crider Webs. Get it and return to the quest giver and give him the Knight Criber Webs and the quest will be completed.
