Amethyst is one of the most exciting new materials introduced in Minecraft 1.17. You can use it to make a Spyglass or Tinted Glass. In this guide, we will tell you what an Amethyst Geode is, and how to get it in Minecraft 1.17.
Amethyst Geode
In Minecraft 1.17, go underground and start mining to find an Amethyst Geode. You won’t have to dig deep as it spawns anywhere between y:0 to y:70. Amethyst can be found easily because you can notice the weak shining light from a distance. Keep an eye out for smooth basalt when mining because it’s the dark out layer of Amethyst Geode. Break it through, and you will find the calcite after the first layer, and then continue braking to get Amethyst, as well as Amethyst Blocks, Amethyst Buds, and Amethyst Cluster.
How to Get Amethyst Shard in Minecraft
The Amethyst Shards fall from Amethyst Clusters, which are growing minerals found inside the Amethyst Geodes. Amethyst Buds should be fully grown to get the Amethyst Shards. Amethyst Bud goes through three stages before it becomes an Amethyst Cluster. If you broke Amethyst Cluster with a random tool it drops two Amethyst Shards, and four if you use a pickaxe. The Amethyst Shards dropped can be increased by using the Fortune enchantment.
Amethyst Clusters and Amethyst Buds grows on Budding Amethyst blocks. Budding Amethyst can’t be mined. Another solid amethyst block is “A Block of Amethyst” which can only be mined with a pickaxe. You will have to make more Amethyst Blocks if you want to use Amethyst Shards as a building material.
You can use the Amethyst to craft the following products:
- SpyGlass:
Place one Amethyst Shard on two copper Ingots to make a Spyglass. Spyglasses can be used to Zoom in.
- Tinted Glass:
You can make two blocks of Tinted Glass from one block of glass with an Amethyst Shard on either side. Tinted Glass is a construction material that can be used to obstruct all light.
- Block of Amethyst:
It’s just a cosmetic, which can be crafted with four Amethyst Shards.
