You can get a certain ranked character after wishing a certain number of times. This is the basis of the pity system and it works once you have made a number of pulls. If you want to track it, head to the Wish page and check out the History from there. Count the number of pulls you have made since getting a 5-star character to determine what you can get next.

There are additional changes to consider including a soft pity and a 50/50 pity. All of these work to increase your odds against getting a better pull.
- Soft Pity:
A new hidden pity system is the soft pity which improves the 0.6% odds of getting a 5-star character. We don’t know the number of pulls required to increase the probability of soft pity, but the number does increase as you complete more pulls. To have a better idea of getting a 5-star character, you need to do 75 pulls at the minimum and by the time you hit 90, you will have a 100% chance of getting a 5-star character. This sure sounds tedious as hell.
- 50/50:
You usually have a 50/50 chance of getting a promoted 5-star character during a banner event. If you are lucky to win the 50/50 and pull a 5-star character, you can get the next promoted 5-star character with another pull. If you somehow end up losing this pull, you will get a promoted character most of the time during a character banner event.
If you want to delve into Weapons, the banner also works with a 50/50 pity system. It is better for weapons with a 75% chance of pulling one during an event. It also works in the same way as the character banner event.
Does Genshin Impact’s New Pity System Work On Different Banners
You won’t be able to carry this pity system to different banners. You can’t rely on the same 50/50 chance for the weapon and character event banner as they will be different. It does carry over to the same type of banner event so keep trying to earn more pity by doing pulls for the 5-star characters.
