Helldivers 2 will not be released on Xbox consoles despite early rumors suggesting otherwise. According to a new report, while discussions about an Xbox port did take place earlier this year, these talks did not lead to any concrete plans for an Xbox release. This effectively ends any hope for Xbox players anticipating a version of Helldivers 2 on their platform.
Sony has consistently limited its first-party releases to its own hardware and PC, contrasting sharply with Microsoft’s approach of making more games available on PlayStation. For instance, major Microsoft releases, including titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will be available on PlayStation 5. Although flagship games like Starfield and Halo Infinite haven’t made their way to Sony’s platform yet, Microsoft’s recent multiplatform strategy could see them eventually arriving there.
For now, Sony is focusing on PlayStation 5 and PC ports, often releasing PC versions several months after their PlayStation debut. Additionally, Sony has confirmed the release of Lego Horizon Adventures on both the Nintendo Switch and PC alongside the PS5. However, Xbox players have been left out of this release plan, as there is no indication of an Xbox version for Lego Horizon Adventures either.
Released on February 8, 2024, Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It serves as a direct sequel to the 2015 game Helldivers, which initially adopted a top-down perspective. The new game embraces a third-person view, bringing fresh gameplay experiences exclusively to the PlayStation 5 and PC.
