Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Promises 30+ Hours of Gameplay, Devs Clarify Budget Pricing

The development team behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has responded to player inquiries regarding the anticipated duration and pricing of the game. As the debut title from this independent studio, the developers are dedicated to delivering a deeply immersive experience while maintaining fair and transparent pricing.

In their recent statement, the team confirmed that players can expect over 30 hours of gameplay for the main storyline, with plenty of additional content available for those seeking to fully explore the game. They emphasized their passion for the project, noting that despite being a small indie team, they have invested significant time and effort into creating a memorable adventure.

Check out their statement in full below.

We’ve seen a few questions regarding the price and expected playtime of Expedition 33.

We are a small team with an Indie spirit, and we’re creating something we believe is truly special. We aren’t an AAA studio, this is our first game, and we want as many people discovering our world as possible.

To be clear: we poured all of our hearts and souls into this game. When you play Expedition 33, you can expect 30+ hours of main game, and as much side content for our completionist Expeditioners.

Pricing that you see from your local retailers is accurate, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on the game.

See you in the Spring.

One of the standout features of Expedition 33 is its narrative, centered around the myth of the Paintress, a being who annually awakens to paint a cursed number on her monolith. With each new number, individuals of that age vanish, and the cycle continues until tomorrow when she will paint “33,” signaling the start of a final mission to put an end to her deadly power. The quest is aptly named Expedition 33, and players will join a group of heroes determined to vanquish the Paintress and halt the cycle of death.

The game innovatively blends turn-based RPG elements with real-time combat mechanics, offering a fresh take on the genre. Players will create custom builds for their characters using gear, statistics, skills, and synergies, tailoring their Expeditioners to their preferred playstyles. Combat introduces real-time tactics, allowing players to dodge, parry, counter, and execute combos while targeting enemy weak points using a free-aim system.

Set in a richly crafted fantasy world inspired by the Belle Époque period of France, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes players through stunning landscapes and challenging encounters. From the Island of Visages to the Forgotten Battlefield, players will uncover secrets, recruit legendary creatures, and form alliances with unique companions, unlocking new travel methods and hidden areas on the World Map.
