Abby Actress in HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 Receives Extra Security Due to Gamer Backlash

Kaitlyn Dever, the actress chosen to portray Abby in the second season of HBO’s highly acclaimed series, The Last of Us, has reportedly been provided additional security measures during filming. This decision is in response to concerns regarding potential backlash from certain members of the gaming community who hold negative sentiments towards the character. These concerns stem from the controversy surrounding The Last of Us Part II.

This information surfaced during a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, in which host Josh Horowitz interviewed Isabela Merced, who portrays Dina in the upcoming season of the series. Horowitz expressed apprehension for Dever’s safety, recalling the intense reactions from certain segments of the gaming community following leaks and plot developments in The Last of Us Part II, where Abby’s actions sparked significant debate and animosity among fans.

Merced acknowledged the situation, noting that there are so many strange people in this world who harbor deep-seated resentment towards the fictional character of Abby. She emphasized that Abby is not real and highlighted the unfortunate reality that this distinction has not deterred some individuals from directing their anger at those involved in bringing the character to life. In light of these circumstances, Merced confirmed that Dever had been provided with extra security during the filming of the second season.

Despite the heightened security, Merced described Dever as a composed individual who remains unfazed by the controversy and maintains a positive, grounded attitude.
