HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 7.2, titled Hour of Ruin, will launch on November 4. The update brings together representatives from all seven nations of Teyvat to confront a growing threat, while also introducing a new area in eastern Snezhnaya and 2 playable characters, Mitya and Valeriy.
The latest Archon Quest centres on the awakening of the Nails of Retribution and the resulting threat to civilisation. As mysterious pillars of light appear across Teyvat, the Holy Soil phenomenon begins causing severe problems in each nation. The Tsaritsa responds by calling representatives from all seven nations to Snezhnaya, where they will coordinate efforts to contain the crisis. Players will work alongside the Archons, Neuvillette and other familiar characters.
Completing the Archon Quest during the designated period will reward players with 560 Primogems and Character Ascension Materials for Mitya. Additional rewards, including a Snezhnaya-themed Wind Glider, can be earned by completing the latest Secret Tsarist Assignments. Players looking to purchase in-game currency can also use VGTopup to top up their favourite mobile games.
Version 7.2 also opens a new region in eastern Snezhnaya. Players can travel by railway to Novokitezhgrad, an underground city built around the nation’s production of Kresnik Kristall. The settlement is encased in the mineral and offers a different environment from the snow-covered areas above ground.
Further east lies Wingspan Peak, a location shaped like a giant wing that houses Old Kitezhgrad, the first city of Snezhnaya, founded by the Belyi Tsar. Players will need to deal with the Holy Soil phenomenon in the region, using new Prime Ice Constructs and 2 elemental shotguns to neutralise hazards around contaminated Kresnik Kristall deposits. The update will also provide more details about Snezhnaya’s history.
New Meeting Point quests will follow Danica and Mitya as they investigate separate assignments. Danica takes on a secret cleanup operation for the Tsaritsa in Novokitezhgrad, while Mitya examines the soil near Teplo Oasis. Their investigations will eventually bring them together. A large creature from the ocean depths will also be available to challenge in Novokitezhgrad.
Mitya joins the playable roster as a 5-star Electro Catalyst character. His abilities allow him to convert the party’s Superconduct reactions into Stellar-Conduct reactions, increasing the team’s Stellar-Conduct DMG while building up special energy. His Elemental Skill can release that energy to deal periodic Stellar-Conduct DMG to nearby enemies. Holding the Skill instead consumes the stored energy to unleash a series of enhanced Charged Attacks, allowing him to operate both on and off the field.
His Elemental Burst deals AoE Electro DMG and generates additional special energy to support longer combat rotations. Mitya will also have a role in exploration, as his detection device can reveal hidden paths in certain parts of Snezhnaya and unlock a reward that changes his appearance.
Valeriy is the other new character joining the roster. He is a 4-star Electro Sword user and a Major of the Armory Palace. His abilities provide shields and increase Electro DMG, with particular benefits for teams built around Stellar-Conduct reactions.
The first phase of Event Wishes will feature the debuts of Mitya and Valeriy alongside a rerun of Furina. The second phase will bring back Zibai and Linnea, while a new Chronicled Wish will feature selected Natlan characters.
Players can also take part in a limited-time event after progressing through the Version 7.2 Archon Quest. Those who want to access it sooner can use the Quick Start feature. The event brings together allies from Mondstadt to Snezhnaya, with objectives involving rescuing wounded soldiers, delivering important intelligence and completing assignments to contain the Holy Soil phenomenon. Rewards include Primogems, enhancement materials and the opportunity to invite a 4-star character of their choice.
The event area will remain explorable after the limited-time activities end, allowing players to see the aftermath of the crisis. Other activities arriving with the update include a filming event in Snezhnaya and a mining challenge in Natlan.
Miliastra Wonderland will also receive new content, including a masquerade-themed lobby, a free 4-star cosmetic set and additional components, assets and features for stage editing.
Genshin Impact Version 7.2, Hour of Ruin, launches on November 4 across PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, Android and iOS. The update supports cross-progression and Co-Op play across platforms.
