New alleged story details for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves have surfaced online, offering what may be an early look at the narrative and characters planned for the next generation of Pokémon games.
According to the leak, players will travel alongside three companions throughout the adventure, a setup said to be similar to the group dynamic featured in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The rumored companions include a native resident of the region who is committed to preventing further land development and protecting nature, the heir to a major corporate executive who is initially unaware of the impact their family’s business has on the region, and a traveler originally from Kanto. The leak also claims that one of these companions may struggle with a long-term illness that becomes an important part of the story.
The region’s Champion is reportedly described as a heroic figure, though one who is initially hostile toward the player. According to the rumor, the character is deeply committed to protecting something referred to as “Seed” and the region itself, even if that means taking extreme measures.
The leak further alleges that a powerful corporation will play a central role in the narrative. The company is said to have ties to both international business operations and research facilities conducting experimental work. In addition, parts of the region are reportedly inaccessible due to unexplained incidents that authorities have not publicly addressed.
Based on the information shared, the story’s major themes are said to revolve around environmental preservation, corporate influence, and morally complex decisions rather than a straightforward conflict between good and evil.
Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are in development at Game Freak for Nintendo Switch 2 and are expected to serve as the first entries in the franchise’s tenth generation. The games take place in a tropical island region inspired by Southeast Asia, featuring interconnected islands, underwater exploration, and a new set of starter Pokémon.
