Insider Claims Indiana Jones and The Golden Circle is Struggling with Sales

Emil JohnBy Emil JohnDecember 31, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Indiana Jones: The Golden Circle might not be doing well in sales, according to an insider, SneakersSO. This insider, known for predicting gaming industry trends accurately, suggests that the latest Indiana Jones game is facing challenges.

In a recent forum post, SneakersSO mentioned that the game’s revenue is disappointing, hinting that it hasn’t clicked with audiences or taken full advantage of its well-known franchise.

The insider also talked about Disney’s way of handling licensing deals, highlighting that Disney focuses on creative alignment and licensing fees rather than direct involvement in negotiations. This brings up concerns about whether the game’s underperformance could affect future Indiana Jones projects. SneakersSO speculated that Microsoft’s Matt Booty might have already started talking to Disney’s third-party managers about the terms for a new game in the series.

The revenue performance of the game is not doing well. Disney’s business practices are typically such that they do not engage directly in negotiations. It’s not advisable to attribute a personality to a large corporation. My personal experience working with Disney has shown that the process is straightforward if the pitch is good and the creative outlines are followed, with the primary requirement being the payment of licensing costs. I speculate that Booty might have contacted Disney’s third-party managers to discuss terms for a new potential indie game.

Indiana Jones: The Golden Circle was one of this year’s most anticipated games because of its connection to a beloved franchise and top developers. It was also a significant risk for Microsoft, as they launched it on Game Pass for PC and Xbox consoles, using it to promote their subscription service alongside other big releases like Black Ops 6.

Disney’s licensing practices are straightforward but tough, and the game’s poor sales might make future negotiations for Indiana Jones games more challenging. Whether this will lead to a change in the series’ strategy or is just a temporary setback is yet to be seen.

Fans will likely be waiting for official statements or updates about the future of Indiana Jones in gaming.

Indiana Jones: The Golden Circle is currently available for PC and Xbox Series S|X and is set to launch for PS5 in early 2025.
