Elden Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki Teases New Projects Amid Apology for DLC Delay

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the mastermind behind Elden Ring and head honcho at FromSoftware, recently apologized to fans for the long wait for the game’s DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. This expansion dropped over two years after the main game launched in 2022 and even snagged the Golden Joystick Award for Best Game Expansion. While saying thanks for the recognition, Miyazaki also teased some cool new stuff in the works at the studio.

In his acceptance video at the Golden Joystick Awards, Miyazaki called the award an “incredible honor” and gave a big shoutout to fans for sticking with them. He said, “I must sincerely apologize for the lengthy wait of over two years since the release of the main game to deliver this DLC.” Despite the wait, he was super grateful for everyone who supported both the base game and the expansion.

Looking back at Elden Ring’s success, Miyazaki highlighted how the “overwhelming support” from the community has been a huge boost for the team. He also mentioned that FromSoftware is “currently working on various new projects,” but didn’t spill any specific details.

This news has fans buzzing about what’s next. Back in February, Miyazaki said there were no immediate plans for more DLC or a sequel to Elden Ring, but he left the door open for future possibilities. Whether these new projects involve more Elden Ring, a return to Dark Souls, or maybe the long-awaited Bloodborne PC port or remaster, is still up in the air.

For now, fans can only guess what FromSoftware has up its sleeve. Given their track record for killer games, excitement is already building for their next move.
