Splinter Cell Remake Leak Confirms New Details, Aiming for 2026 Release Window

Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Splinter Cell remake is currently in development under the codename “North,” with Ubisoft Toronto leading the project. The game is being built using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, which has powered other major titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws. Although specific visual features, such as ray tracing, have not been confirmed, the use of the Snowdrop engine suggests that the remake could feature advanced visual enhancements.

While Ubisoft has not confirmed a release date, there are speculations that the game may aim for a 2026 launch. However, these reports are unverified, and it seems that the project is still in its early development stages. Fans of the iconic stealth series should be prepared for a potentially long wait before Sam Fisher makes his return.

The Splinter Cell remake was officially announced in December 2021, but since then, Ubisoft has provided limited updates. During the initial reveal, the game’s producer, Matt West, noted that the project was in its early stages and emphasized that it would retain the original series’ linear gameplay, steering clear of an open-world format.

The decision to use the Snowdrop engine reflects Ubisoft’s intention to modernize the original Splinter Cell with substantial visual upgrades. The engine’s capabilities, as demonstrated in other Ubisoft titles, are expected to enhance the stealth mechanics and environments that defined the series when it first launched two decades ago.

Despite the lack of frequent updates, Ubisoft has reassured fans that they are carefully studying the original game to preserve its core identity while incorporating new elements using modern technology. Their goal is to deliver a nostalgic yet revitalized experience that remains faithful to the groundbreaking nature of the original Splinter Cell games.
