The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom First Review from Famitsu Scores 36/40

JoelBy JoelSeptember 25, 2024Updated:September 25, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

The highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has received its first review from the renowned Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, scoring an impressive 36/40. This score comes from four reviewers who rated the game individually, with scores of 10, 9, 9, and 8.

Famitsu’s review offers an in-depth look into the unique aspects of Echoes of Wisdom, highlighting how the game continues the legacy of the Zelda franchise while introducing new elements. Although Princess Zelda is the protagonist, the review emphasizes that the gameplay retains the unmistakable feel of a true Legend of Zelda title, rather than a spin-off.

One of the most praised aspects of the game is its incorporation of the high degree of freedom in puzzle-solving and combat, a hallmark of the series that was elevated in recent entries like Breath of the Wild. According to the review, Echoes of Wisdom offers players the ability to approach puzzles and challenges in multiple ways, fostering creativity and engagement throughout the adventure.

The review also highlights the game’s pacing, noting that the story unfolds at a relaxed, measured pace. This approach allows players to fully explore the world of Hyrule without feeling rushed. Another unique feature praised in the review is the freedom to rest and sleep wherever and whenever the player chooses.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the first mainline entry in the series to feature Princess Zelda as the playable character. Players take on the role of Zelda as she embarks on a quest to save Link and the kingdom of Hyrule, using the magical Tri Rod, an artifact provided by the fairy Tri. The game’s visual style closely resembles that of the 2019 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which was also developed by Grezzo.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be out on September 26 for Nintendo Switch.
