Upcoming action adventure game Star Wars Outlaws will not be featuring Ubisoft open world towers, based on the latest information.

Brian Shea, Online Content Director of Game Informer, took to Twitter/X to share that he asked the creative director of Star Wars Outlaws, Julian Gerighty, whether there are towers players will need to climb in the open world in order to unlock sections of the world map. In response, Gerighty stated that there are no towers featured in the game.

Based on what Shea gathered, the world map in Star Wars Outlaws will only reveal itself through exploration. In other words, as players explore the game world, the fog on the world map will dissipate across those areas.

Star Wars Outlaws is an action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft under license from Lucasfilm Games. It is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Players assume the role of outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess, portrayed by Humberly González, alongside her companion Nix, portrayed by Dee Bradley Baker. Together, they embark on a daring heist across various planets, including Tatooine, Kijimi, and Akiva, as well as the new moon of Toshara, inspired by the Tanzanian savannah. The game features open-world gameplay with elements of stealth, combat, vehicle combat, space combat, and branching dialogue.

The game uses the Snowdrop game engine, and its development is led by game director Mathias Karlson and creative director Julian Gerighty. Nikki Foy serves as the lead writer, with Navid Khavari as the narrative director. Gerighty explained that the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi was chosen because the team are avid fans of the original trilogy. He stated that this era provides an ideal backdrop for both established and rookie scoundrels to thrive, with the Rebel Alliance not yet prominent, the Galactic Empire gaining control, and criminal syndicates rising in power.

Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on August 30, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
