Ubisoft Toronto has hinted at a possible reveal for the Splinter Cell remake at the forthcoming Ubisoft Forward in June, 2024.

The Facebook page for Ubisoft Toronto has been updated with a new cover image and profile picture, suggesting that the Splinter Ceil remake may be revealed at the forthcoming Ubisoft Forward in June, 2024. While it may well be a coincidence, chances are the pictures were updated to promote the reveal.

Not a whole lot is known about the Splinter Cell remake at this point. Though, a few years ago, on the occasion of the series’ 20th anniversary, four developers working on the project sat down to discuss the lighting, visuals, player agency, and other aspects from earlier games that made them a success.

As per the developers, the Splinter Cell remake is not merely a visual update. They aim to surpass what is typically offered by remasters. The game is being entirely rebuilt with new high-quality assets, with the goal of establishing a solid foundation for the franchise’s future. The studio is also incorporating new technology, gameplay ideas, and standout features from prior entries. They mentioned that the AI has been significantly improved, with enemies displaying varied behavior based on their individual abilities and roles. The remake will also feature modern graphical enhancements, such as ray-tracing, which has the potential to significantly improve the experience in a stealth-focused game like Splinter Cell.

The original Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell follows the exploits of NSA black ops agent Sam Fisher, voiced by Michael Ironside. Drawing inspiration from the Metal Gear series and games by Looking Glass Studios, it was developed using Unreal Engine 2. Originally exclusive to Xbox upon its release, the game was later ported to Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Mac OS X in 2003. Additionally, a side-scrolling adaptation by Gameloft was released in 2003 for platforms such as Game Boy Advance, mobile phones, and N-Gage. A remastered version was made available on PlayStation 3 in September 2011, followed by an Xbox version.
