The release date for Atlus and Studio Zero’s upcoming role-playing game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, may have been revealed.
Twitter user MbKKssTBhz5, also known as Midori, has pointed out that the Microsoft Store listing for Metaphor: ReFantazio in Hong Kong mentions a release date. As per the store page, the game has a release date of October 12, 2024.
However, the insider suggests that the actual release date is likely to be October 11, 2024. They added that release dates stated on Microsoft Store listings can sometimes be off by a day, mentioning examples of other listings where this has been the case.
Additionally, the insider claimed that the Persona 3 remake will arrive on the Nintendo Switch successor, possibly as part of the console’s launch lineup.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It marks Studio Zero’s first original project since its formation in 2016 by Persona series director Katsura Hashino, character artist Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro. The game is set in a medieval fantasy world that serves as a parallel to the contemporary real world. Players assume the role of a silent protagonist who embarks on a journey to protect their kingdom, forming bonds with companions along the way.
Metaphor: ReFantazio draws inspiration from gameplay mechanics seen in prior Atlus role-playing games. This includes the style of combat, progression and exploration, social sim elements, and the opportunity to develop relationships with party members outside of combat. Set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, the game’s storyline focuses on the assassination of the king, which triggers chaos and unrest throughout the kingdom. The protagonist, a member of the Elda tribe ostracized for possessing forbidden magic, sets out on a quest to lift a curse placed on their childhood friend, the crown prince. Accompanied by a fairy companion named Gallica, the protagonist sets on an adventure through a world filled with discrimination and prejudice, seeking to overcome obstacles and uncover the truth behind the kingdom’s turmoil.
